What if it Rains During My Beach Wedding on Kauai?

We’ve been doing outdoor beach weddings here since 2007, and you’ll be glad to know that in our experience, the weather gods tend to smile very kindly on Kauai weddings.

In fact, we have seen very few ceremonies that have had to be postponed to another day due to heavy rain or other inclement weather. If it does rain for your wedding, you may decide to wait 5, 10, or 20 minutes for it to subside before starting the ceremony. Kauai rain has a funny habit of blowing over quickly; it frequently only lasts for a few minutes before the sun comes out again. As long as you can be a little flexible in the case of rain, your wedding should go off just fine on the day you’ve planned.

How Often Does it Rain in Hawaii?

rainbow after rain at beach weddingIn Hawaii, about 90% of our days would be considered “good weather” days for a wedding or other events. It actually rains more during the Hawaii’s winter months than during the summer, when more weddings are booked. Most often, it rains in the valleys rather than on the beach. But can you think of a more beautiful setting for a wedding than a Hawaiian beach backed by a vivid rainbow after it has rained?

We always have a rain plan in place before your ceremony. Our plan may include an alternate location that is dry, or one that has pavilions or other cover in case of rain. Rest assured that we’ll do everything we can to ensure a beautiful day for you.

If you do have rain on your scheduled date, you might be happy to know that in traditional Hawaiian culture, rain on your wedding day is a sign of blessing.
